ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Dina Borremans is the Development and Outreach Manager for Golden House, Brown County's comprehensive domestic abuse agency. Over the years, she has transitioned her role to Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator and in her current role as Development and Outreach Manager, she leads and implements fund development activities, prevention education and community outreach.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Golden House’s “Domestic Violence in the Workplace” program aims to educate employers about the potential impact it can have on individual employees, co-workers, and the organization as a whole. In this educational and informative presentation, we will take a deep dive into what domestic violence is, identify what it looks like in the workplace, discuss the impact it has on victims, co-workers, and the overall organization, as well as outline a plan for managers to respond appropriately when domestic violence enters the workplace. We will review key components to workplace policy on domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking. In addition, a digital sample handbook policy as well as break room flyers and handouts will be made available.
Domestic violence impacts our employees in our workplaces.
When a victim of domestic violence leaves their abuser, where is the one place the abuser knows the victim will be every day? Work
Domestic violence affects not only the victim, but also co-workers and the work environment itself.
- Compromised safety in the organization
- Increased threat of violence
- Increased health care costs
- Turnover and recruitment costs
- Productivity decreases, work stops
Golden House can help you to design an effective workplace response, including a safety plan that is crucial for everyone.
